Engis CC | Fagnes, Engis (be) | 2021

At Fagnes, a social neighborhood by Engis haut, a Children City Council was launched in the school. The children decided they wanted to transform the plain and bring it to life. On a big model they proposed numerous children games. In parallel, a survey made with the inhabitants during some festivities disclosed how they feel the different areas of the neighborhood and some of their desired changes. Following the kids tip the Engis CC called us up to see if we knew how to sparkle such activation on the plain. We proposed to make an in-place residence of a couple of weeks to build an installation made through an open process where we only knew the beginning: a roof to protect social gatherings from the rain and the envy to create something that interacts with all generations and the different people of the neighborhood. We brought a couple of containers, a stack of wood – both new and reclaimed – and put our energy to generate a social gathering around a specific goal written between us all! We packed our vans to live in place for two amazing weeks. Some neighbors and volunteers brought their fabulous energy, time, skills and love!… without which we would have nothing. In the end we had two weeks of an intense human exchange and a lot of energy coming from all around! We want to believe a new story starts here… under this roof overlooking the plain and dreaming on next steps!!! A big thank you all for everything you brought to the project and to us!
