BXLSURL'EAU
Biestebroek ASBL est venu nous trouver avec l’idée de créer et d’installer sur l’eau un ponton qui pourrait servir pour les activités nautiques légères qu’ils voulaient introduire dans le canal, juste devant leur porte. Nous avons développé un concept de structure temporaire qui toucherait l’imaginaire des citoyens et modifierait leur perception du canal et de la présence de l’eau dans la ville. Le résultat était une plate-forme insulaire : un Transat flottant, hors échelle, capable d’accueillir des dizaines de personnes. La plupart des décisions de conception ont été prises entre les membres de l’équipe en place, en échange constant avec l’institution d’accueil. En réalisant un processus de construction ouvert dans la rue, de nombreux passants, voisins et autres ont échangé et même participé à la construction elle-même. Pendant 9 jours, nous avons construit et élevé une plate-forme de 65m2 que nous avons ensuite installée sur une rampe en bois pour faire glisser la structure de 1 tonne sur l’eau avec des techniques artisanales très rudimentaires.

Biestebroek ASBL came to us with the idea to create and installation on the water that could work as a pontoon for light nautical activities they wanted to introduce in the canal just in front of their door. We developed a concept for a temporary structure that would touch the citizen’s imaginaries and change their perception of the canal and the presence of the water in the city. The result was an island-kind of platform: an out of scale floating Transat capable of hosting dozens of people. Most of the design decisions were made between the team members in place on a constant exchange with the host institution. By making an open building process on the street lots of passersby, neighbors and others exchanged and even participated on the construction itself. During 9 days we built and raised a 65m2 platform that we then slid all the way down to the water just with the help of some ropes. We then put on some wooden rail ramp we installed to slide the 1ton structure all the way to the water with very rudimentary artisanal techniques.
